Carrying the same journal that led to her mother’s death, seventeen year-old Lia Dempsy assembles an unlikely group of a wanted thief, an ex-soldier, a dying survivor, a runaway ladies maid, and a knowledge-obsessed chronicler in a desperate attempt to restore what was lost. Their journey leads them into the Forest of Alkond, which is overrun with genetically engineered monsters created by Envy. But with conflicting motives pulling the group apart, they’ll have to survive each other before they have any hope of making it out of Alkond with their lives. If Pride’s journal is wrong, the forest will become their grave. If it’s right, the truth behind Alkond may be worse than its monsters.
